The day was very wet and gloomy, but the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours 207th exhibition added the missing sunshine. The exhibition is open until Thursday 18th April.
Mike and I went to see it, travelling to London by train for the day. It is always a good exhibition but this year had an added wow factor. Such a diverse range of paintings in watercolours.
Every wall was covered in unusual concepts and compositions, from very traditional realistic paintings to modern abstract images. From the gentlest delicate paintings to images abounding in rich colour.

The exhibition was opened by Anthony J Lester, art critic and broadcaster, and Rosa Sepple the president of the RI, who both made interesting and informative speeches.
Sitting on the train on the way home I reflected on how amazing watercolour can be when so many different styles and effects can be achieved. An inspiring afternoon.
