This little robin was posing beautifully for me when I visited Great Lindeth Wood in the Rusland Valley, Cumbria. I drew some quick sketches and took photographs.
Two years later I came across my sketches and decided to paint this picture. This particular robin looks very fluffy and I had fun trying to capture the robin's feathers in watercolour and gouache.
Robins are so inquisitive and interesting. I love seeing them hopping around my garden watching me whenever I am working. I have painted two previous pictures of robins, but this one is my favourite.
